Mera Peak is one of the most popular single-day climbing peak in Nepal. Mera Peak holds an elevation of 6,476 m / 21,246 ft. Mera Peak lies in the Makalu region which is located on the southeast side of the Everest Region.
About Mera Peak Climbing
Mera Peak gives you a view of uncountable mountains. From 6469m you will have a view of Pike Peak, Mt. Numbur 6959m, Mt. Kusung Kangguru 6367m, Mt. Kangtega 6782m, Mt. Taboche 6363m, Mt. Pumori 7161m, Mt.Nuptse 7861m, Mt. Everest 8848m, Mt. Island Peak 6189m, Mt. Baruntse 7075m, Mt. Makalu 8485m, Mt. Kanchanjunga 8586m and many small peaks of Nepal including bigger mountains of Nepal.
There are three peaks of Mera. Mera North, Mera Central, and Mera South. You will be making the summit of Mera North which has an elevation of 6476m. Due to the difficult route of South and Central Mera, they are not summited.
Besides climbing this climbing trip also offers you an amazing Trekking trail. You will witness small Sherpa Villages, rivers, and the perfect opportunity to know the landscape, geography, and lifestyle of the Sherpa people of the region.
You will be introduced to beautiful moraines, glaciers, dense forests with diverse flora and fauna. Mera peaks normally start with an adventurous flight to the gateway of Everest Region the only airport with a continuous flight to the capital; Tenzing Hillary airport.
The flight itself gives a panoramic aerial view of the Himalayas. If you have do not want to take a flight then you have an alternative to drive to the lower Solukhumbu region and trek towards the Mera trail. This will prolong your trekking days by 2-3 days. This decision will be a good decision if you want to know the landscape and lifestyle of Sherpa people closer. It will surely help you acclimatize your body better to the surrounding altitude.

You will have a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu whereas during the Trek your accommodation will be in normal tea houses or hotels indicated in itinerary. Since this trail is one of the most developed trails you can have varieties of meals that our Sherpas will indicate to you in each place.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1
Arrival Day in Kathmandu (The capital of Nepal)-1300m/4265 ft.
This day you will land at the Capital city of Nepal which is Kathmandu. The airport will be Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). You will be picked by the company representative and welcomed.
Providing you a flower garland made from Marigold. In Nepal, garlands are provided as a warm welcome gift and taken as good luck for further days. You are given a brief introduction and taken to Hotel via private vehicle.
As you arrive hotel you can get a nearby location map from the counter and can explore local shops or attraction points. You can also get gears for your trekking if you had missed any.

Day 2
Trek Preparation Day in Kathmandu
Today is a free day in Kathmandu. You can explore the local surrounding by yourself. You will be introduced to your respective Guide and other staff. Today you will have to check all the necessary gears that you will need for the trip. You will encounter plenty of gear shops nearby so, it will not be a problem if you miss any.
You will be given information about tomorrow’s flight time which is normally early in the morning.

Day 3
Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla- 2800m and trek to Paiya-2730m (3-4 hours walk)
Most of the time the flight to Lukla starts early in the morning. You will be picked by the guide in the morning from Hotel and taken to the airport for a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla.
You will witness a breathtaking aerial view of sunrise over the Himalayas and many small villages. If the weather gets clear this 35-minute flight will finish in no time and your trek will surely be overwhelmed.
Aa you arrive Lukla we will either have breakfast/lunch depending upon the arrival and start our trek towards Paiya. Your trek will be 3-4 hours with a normal downward slope.

Day 4
Trek from Paiya to Pangom-2850m (5-6 hours walk)
As you finish your breakfast your trek towards Pangom starts. Today your trial will be towards the south route of the river with a normal slight slope. Pangom is a small Sherpa village that needs to be reached by climbing an hour uphill slope. This location provides you a beautiful view of mountains like Mt. Numbur 6959 m, Mt. Thengmuche 6492m, Mt. Kwangde Lho 6187m, Mt Kongde Ri (6187m), and some 5000m + peaks.

Day 5
Trek from Pangom to Ngingso-2745m (4-5 hours walk)
Today you will have your first normal uphill towards Pangom la after breakfast. Pangom- La(ridge) gives meaning to the top ridge of Pangom. Crossing the ridge you have to again descend to the Hinku River. With the combination of ascending and descend your trek will be 4-5 hours long.

Day 6
Trek from Ngingso to Chhatrakhola-3150m (6-7 hours walk)
As of the previous day today we will again pass through a ridge called Surka La. The trails are similar to ascends and descend. Chattrakhola is a small village near the river. Today will be a long day walk through green fields and thin forest. You will need 6-7 hours of walk.

Day 7
Trek from Chhhatrakhola to Kothe-3600m (6-7 hours walk)
After having your breakfast you will start your trek towards Kothe. Your trail will be through rocky terrains. You will have to descend towards the river formed from glaciers.
As you reach the river level you will need to follow the river which will take you to Kothe. Your trek will be 6-7 hours long.

Day 8
Trek from Kothe to Taknang-4350m (3-4 hours walk)
Like the previous day, following the river towards the westside, your trail continuous straight upwards towards the glacier. The trail is easy with a normal uphill climb. After 3-4 hours of walk, you will reach Taknang a village near moraine.
From here you will have a view of Mt. Kyashar (6769m) and Mt. Kusum Khanguru (6367m).

Day 9
Trek from Taknang to Khare-5000m (4-5 hours walk)
You are at a higher elevation now and you will find yourself surrounded by huge mountains on either side. Today your destination will be at Khare which is also a rest day place or acclimatization day. After a 4-5 hours slow walk, you will arrive at Khare.

Day 10
Acclimatization Day in Khare
Today is a rest day or it is also taken as acclimatization day. On this day you will either rest at the same elevation or else trek to a higher elevation and sleep at a lower height. You can take it as trek high and sleep low. This helps you to maintain your oxygen level with the surrounding.
You will be trained using gears and communication skills by a mountain climbing guide.

Day 11
Trek from Khare to High Camp-5780m (4-5 hours walk)
After a day’s rest at Khare today you will start your climb towards high camp. Your climb will be through the glacier and rocky climb. You will need to put your gears and helmets for your safety.
You will have an amazing view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Lhotse. The high camp is located at a rocky place.

Day 12
High Camp to Summit (6476m) and Trek back to Khare (8-9 hours)
Today you will leave high camp early in the morning at around 2-3 am. It will take 5-6 hours to climb to the summit. Your climb will be slow and steady keeping the energy to return.
Your climb will be challenging through snow avoiding crevasses. You will have entire 360 panoramic views of almost all mountains of the surrounding. After the summit, you will then slowly descend to Khare.

Day 13
Trek back from Khare to Kothe (6-7 hours walk)
With a successful climb, it is time to return. You will now follow the same trail we climbed earlier up to Kothe.

Day 14
Trek from Kothe to Thule Kharka-4300m (6-7 hours walk)
Today you will take a shorter route. Our today’s destination will be Thule kharka for which you will have to climb uphill departing away from the river.

Day 15
Trek from Thule Kharka to Lukla (6-7 hours walk)
This day is the final day our your Mera Peak climb. You will have a normal climb until you reach Lukla. Today you will have the last day’s dinner with all the staff and thank them for this successful trip.

Day 16
Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu
Today you will have a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. You will be picked at the airport by the Company representative. Today you can freshen up yourself after a long and a lifer time memorable trek. You can explore if you have free time and also make shopping for your family as a memory from Nepal.

Day 17
Free Day in Kathmandu
Today is a free day in Kathmandu. You can either rest or explore the UNESCO World Heritage Sites which are inside Kathmandu valley. Many of the travelers use this day as a shopping day for their family and friends taking memories of Nepal.

Day 18
Final Departure
Today the company representative will be at your hotel to drop you off at the Airport at your designated flight time. You will be honored with a Buddhist traditional scarf; Kha-Ta. It is a scarf where prayers are written in the Tibetan language. These prayers are for the best of luck, peace, long life, and harmony to everyone.
You are also handed an achievement certificate of Annapurna Base Camp Trek.
