About the Licancabur volcano:
Between Bolivia and Chile is the Licancabur stratovolcano that is considered as a demarcation of the borders between the two nations, its height is 5920m.
Its perfect cone shape that can be seen from far away has always attracted the curious throughout history.
The first documented ascent was in 1884, it is an easy trek in general, although it is recommended to take it easy and acclimatize first to avoid altitude sickness.
The vestiges found on its skirt are clear proof that the volcano had great spiritual influence on the peoples that inhabited the area such as: Atacameños or Cunzas, the Incas and their descendants till today who have great respect for the spirits of the past that represents the place.
Green lagoon:
One of the most beautiful points of the border area in Bolivia, its salty emerald-colored waters (the result of the minerals magnesium, calcium carbonate, lead and arsenic) make its appearance leave all visitors in awe.
Given its location at the foot of the Licancabur volcano, the visit is used to acclimatize before ascending to the top of volcano the next day. The surface of the green lagoon is 5.4 km².
White lagoon:
It is the sister of the green lagoon, they are connected by waters, but not by colors. Its white color (Bluish) is also due to the minerals present in its composition. The white lagoon is double that of its green sister (10.9 km²)
