With Krakow Cathedral & Wawel Hill you will discover one of the most emblematic tourist spots of our beloved city.
About the Krakow Cathedral and Wawel Hill tour
Wawel Hill for centuries has risen above the city of Krakow, being its most characteristic references and, without a doubt, one of its most famous and important monuments.
This is where the Polish kings and princes reigned for centuries, but those who occupied territories in Poland also had their headquarters, from the Austrians to the Nazis.
On this hill is where the famous Krakow Cathedral stands out; the most important church in the country that witnessed many events crucial in the Polish history.
Inside this temple, coronations and weddings of Polish sovereigns took place; as well as funerals for monarchs; as well as other important figures for the Polish people: artists, national heroes, military …
It is also on the hill where; according to popular legends and beliefs; magic and fantasy were entangled with the real world, making it sometimes impossible to distinguish reality from legend. Knowing the history of the hill is, in fact; learn all the most important moments in Polish history. It is an essential experience for everyone who wants to understand the culture and identity of the Poles a little more deeply.
What are we going to see during the tour?
During the tour of the Krakow Cathedral and Wawel Hill we will get to know the hill with its most important monuments; focusing especially on the Cathedral of St. Wenceslas and St. Stanislaus.
Inside the cathedral we will see the altar of Saint Stanislaus; one of the most important places of worship in the whole country and we will learn stories of various saints whose relics are kept inside the church to this day. We will also climb the bell tower to admire the largest and perhaps the most magical bell in Krakow and appreciate the views of the old town. We will also go down to the royal crypts; so that we can see some of the sarcophagi of various Polish kings and national heroes.
After visiting the cathedral we will be able to know other wonders of the place, especially the parade ground of the palace of the Polish kings with its beautiful Renaissance arches.
During the visit we will also discover the fantastic side of its history, to add a pinch of magic to the historical reality that we are going to discover.
