This is the main square and here you will meet the guide at the base of one of the only natural hills. From this spot you will go up to visit the splendid 17th century Patriarchal Cathedral, the center of Romanian Christian Orthodoxy.
You will be astonished by the beautiful murals, mosaics and magnificent decorations here. Besides this, this hill offers a great panoramic view of the city and towards the Parliament Palace.
Afterwards. you will head straight to the old and calm Carol Park. Opened in the early 1900s for a national exhibition, the park is perfect to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the city center.
There is lush vegetation, but also great statues and monuments. For instance, there is a small copy here of the citadel that the famed Vlad Dracula built in the Middle Ages.
Not far you will walk in front of an impressive mausoleum dedicated to the Romanians who died fighting in the two world wars. Just like at the Patriarchy, the park stretches along several small hills, thus allowing for wonderful views over the surroundings.
